My visit to Kyiv, Ukraine

God has challenged me. Travelling to a war zone, I spoke to a 50 year old woman whose husband volunteered to join the fight against Russian aggression. Here everyone believes in the maidan, the revolution of dignity, and in freedom and independence, things we take for granted. They are prepared to die fighting. They have called for our help and hope we will respond. I didn’t anticipate the terror I would feel when I heard the air raid sirens. I am humbled by the bravery of these average people in the face of impossible odds. No greater love hath any man than this, than to lay his life down for his friends. - John 15:13 I hope I can match them in commitment to my principles. I don’t know if I believe in their cause enough yet to enlist myself. But I do know eventually we will all have to stand for something, and maybe we should stand together. God speed Ukraine.

My visit to Auschwitz, Poland

Today I stood in the gas chambers at Auschwitz where over a million people died a thousand at a time. The first thing that hit me was the extreme living conditions for the prisoners. They were banned from drinking water, even from puddles in the ground, and were allocated 1L of camp coffee each day. This was for the lucky few who didn’t get sent immediately to the gas chambers. The worst part was understanding that nothing I was seeing was special. The capability to do this is in me, it’s in all of us, it has been expressed before and it has been expressed since. For a 21 year old in 1939, how they chose to respond to the invasion of Poland, would be the decision that would define their entire life. What if the question of, “How do I respond to the invasion of Ukraine?”, turns out to be the most important for this generation?

  • Love God. Love People.

    We each have to find our purpose and meaning on earth. I believe in a God that created us, and I believe in positively affecting the lives of people around me.

  • The lack of money is the root of all evil.

    I see everyday people spending their lives working for money, and they get just enough to get by. To truly never let money be your master you must be financially free, and then follow your passion.

  • Self-Improvement

    Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more. Accept the responsibility of life with eyes wide open. There is one rule, above all others, for being a human. Whatever comes, face it on your feet.

  • Honor Time

    Time is the most valuable gift. Try your best to not see others waste it, that is grand theft to the utmost level. The key is in not spending time, but in investing it. Life fully in every moment.

  • Life is Short

    You never know when it’s the last time you get to do something So do whatever you’re doing with passion. The future is uncertain but the end is always near.

  • Family

    Family comes first. Invest in your children. Spend time with your partner. Look after your parents.
